Our Style is composed of Street Real Techniques and self defense tactics, most of which violate the rules of UFC type tournaments. Hence, it is rare to see any of this material performed (even by those few who know some of it) in one of these full contact pay per view type of programs.
As a brief example of Street Real Fighting Techniques and self defense tactics we offer the following. Our style of martial arts first focuses on Awareness, Avoidance and Deterrence for reasons of safety and also to allow us to continue to be the best law abiding and moral citizen possible. However, if attacked by a larger, more prepared and crazed attacker or multiple attackers and the situation unavoidably becomes physical and our safety or that of our loved ones is truly in danger and we can not get away, then, we focus on bone breaking techniques with an emphasis on eye, throat and groin strikes. The joints and bones in the feet, ankles and knees are also specifically targeted. Getting away and getting to the position of best advantage are mainstays in our system of self defense and much training against multiple attackers armed with weapons is emphasized as it is a fairly common scenario in a real street attack.
It is our belief that what you practice is what you will do and there is a lot of evidence to this effect particularly in the law enforcement community. The evidence says that if you are practicing sport then you will most likely fight to defend yourself in a sportsman like manner and a wrestler/grappler is most likely to wrestle/grapple when under the stress of a real attack. Unfortunately, criminals do not play by the rules and in real self defense situations a lot of very bad outcomes can result from trying to wrestle in a situation where seconds count and multiple attackers or weapons may be involved. The same is true for trying to fist fight someone who is trying to inflict real harm on you and/ or where there is a great disparity of size or speed. The problem that must be addressed for a self defense fighting method to work in the real world of violent criminals is how to deal with a determined attacker of greatly superior size or speed and 2 or more attackers armed with weapons intentional or improvised. Escape is almost always the best option and when it is not available then techniques and methods that immediately terminate the encounter with extreme prejudice are a necessity.
Although we enjoy watching extreme sports we find sport martial arts training to be an unacceptable method of self defense for the average law abiding citizen against a crazed, muscle-bound, psychopathic, criminal bent on causing great harm to what he perceives to be his next victim.
Also, fortunately for anyone who needs to know, our program has been tested in real circumstances by students and graduates of our self defense courses. The result of the application of our material in a real physical confrontations where awareness, avoidance and deterrence has failed is that the attacker has been knocked out or otherwise incapacitated on first contact. This has worked every time and it has occurred on more than two dozen occasions.
More than 100 of our graduates have had to use our material in the real world where it counts. I am very happy and proud to say that 4 out of 5 graduates of our self defense courses who have had to defend themselves have been able to do it without having to touch or be touched by their would be attacker and have happily reported back to us that our program worked just like it was taught in class.
