I have taken Karate Ju jitsu, and various free form martial arts. I learned more from this short video than anything else that I have taken.
thank you brothers ive kung fu long time but now i want learn the silat i see some similarities but this is it for me
I’m glad you liked the video. Our style of Silat is a Kuntao Silat Style. Kuntao is the Chinese Kung Fu that exists in Indonesia and Malaysia. Kuntao Silat is Silat that has been mixed with and influenced by Kuntao. That is why you see some similarities to Kung Fu.
Are there any specific pad drills, bag drills or shadow boxing drills to develop hand speed? If so could you share them with us?

Hi JB,
Thank you for your inquiry.
There are a ton of hand and body speed drills. To begin with you can take the drills shown in the video clip and practice them on a heavy bag or pad/focus mitt or off of the air in shadow boxing and you will get more hand speed. What I mean by off of the air is that if you extend your arms as far from your body as possible and then relax so that your arms retract back towards you and you continuously alternate so that one arm is always at the farthest point and one arm is closer to you and so that when one arm is retracting the other arm is extending then you can begin to shadow box while using this kind of movement and really build some more hand speed.
Also, I recommend that you obtain the Continuous Explosive Striking video and/or our Open Hand Basics of Self Defense video to get a lot more drills than are shown here in this brief video clip. Keep reading the blog as we are continuously posting new articles about various aspects of the art and about the class material. I will be adding some more articles about building speed and Open Hand Basics here in the next few weeks.
Best Regards.

Thanks for the reply. I studied under Keith Moffett for awhile and am an advanced instructor in his Advanced Combat Entry System. I am currently a Federal Defensive Measures instructor and am looking for pad drills for dynamic entries and counter strikes. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks again.

Hello sir, all i want to know is how much time it takes to master a martial art?
How long in takes to master a martial arts depends on many factors including: Which martial art, what exactly you mean by “master,” the quality of your teachers, your previous experience with similar arts/activities, how much time you spend training, how hard you work and more…
